Autodesk Labs Ecotect analysis Revit Plug in

07-27-09

I downloaded and used the ecotect analysis plugin for Revit this past week.

you have to get the Revit Update from Autodesk before you can install this plug in

The Tool itself is pretty simple to use. You have to create a form in the Conceptual Massing environment, then Run it through the Plug in to see the solar radiation displayed on the faces.
you can right click on the faces of your Geometry before Running the Radiation tool to choose

  1. Shadows Only
  2. Ignore
  3. or standard

I went to the Tutorials on Designreform.net and watched the two videotutorials that they offer on that site. those were really helpful for getting started using the tool.

I have tried it on a few residential Projects in our Office and Plan to try it on some of our Larger Institutional Projects later this week. Good luck playing with it and please email me with any insights, ideas, or questions.
